George

“The years rolled slowly past, and I found myself alone. Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends, I found myself further and further from my home and I guess I lost my way. There were oh so many roads -I was living to run and running to live, never worried about paying or even how much I owe. Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time, breaking all of the rules that would bend; I began to find myself searching-searching for shelter again and again. Against the wind, a little something against the wind - I found myself seeking shelter against the wind.”

That pretty much sums it up for my life before SEPRA found me. There I was-an older guy, a little unsteady on my feet and skinny as could be trying to find a soft, warm spot to rest. I consider myself lucky; I was picked up on the streets of Springfield and eventually found my way to St. Louis. Once I got to St. Louis I met up with my new foster Mom, got the great name of George, and spent the next few days sleeping in any soft spot I could find. Now that I know all the good comfy spots around the house (arms of the couch, under the covers in the big bed, the big green dog bed, in the basket of dog coats and sweaters, any piece of clothing dropped on the floor…) and that this lady seems to have a never ending supply of dog food (my foster Mom says I really have to stop trying to get into the fridge every time she opens it) I am letting my personality shine through so I can tell you a little about myself. I am an older guy, maybe 9 or 10, but since I can’t count I don’t let that stop me from having a good time. I love to run around the yard, chew on bully sticks, and am always ready for my next meal! As far as I can tell, I can see and hear just fine-but my back legs are a little weak. Who knows why-but they don’t bother me and I run around just fine. The vet checked me out and says I need to build up my strength in those back legs a little-I have improved a lot in the month I have been in SEPRA’s care. My walk/run might always be a little goofy-but it shouldn’t get any worse. Now for the best part-I am housetrained, up to date on my shots, heartworm negative, and had my teeth cleaned. Oh yeah, I was also neutered, but do you really think I am going to list that under “best part”?! I have great house manners, I love to ride in the car, love kids and other dogs, and honestly-I really just want to snuggle on the couch with you or sleep under the covers with you at night. When the weather is warm, I am up for a good romp in the yard too - otherwise let me out, I’ll do what I have to do, and let me back in!!

I have a lot of love to give, and if you are looking for a loyal and loving friend who will be with you though it all, I am the guy for you. Like I said at the beginning, I am just looking for a little shelter against the wind - I know when I find my forever family that search will come to an end. Are you my something against the wind?
