Joey

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Joey the kangaroo! Hello everyone! As you can see, my name is Joey, but I come to anything, as I love affection. My foster parents found me wandering around Kansas City a few months ago, but I was in really bad shape. My belly was empty, my ears were icky and they hurt, my left eye really hurt, and I was scared of everyone. I had been living the bad life on the streets, and they weren’t nice to me. People would feed me, but it wasn’t enough. I dreamed of the day of a family of my own, where the food was often and the hugs were always. But I was too scared to go to anyone. People tried to catch me, but I wouldn’t let them. Thanks for trying. (My foster mom tells me I have lots of friends in Kansas City now.) When my foster mom finally caught me, she held me tight, and didn’t let me go for nothing, not even my first bath.

She talked about taking me home, and getting me all better, but I didn’t understand. Now that I’m here, I get it now. I’ve had all my shots, I’m only about 2 yrs old so I healed quickly, and my ears are 100% better. The only thing is that when I saw the eye Dogtor, he said my left eye is shrinking and I can’t see out of it. But that’s why I was born with two, right? I’m very playful and I get a long with all my foster dog brothers and dog sisters. I don’t talk much and don’t give kisses, but I LOVE snuggling. I have a theory that you can’t ever get close enough to the person you’re cuddling with. I love to hop around on my back legs, too, which is why they call me a kangaroo.

At night I’m very content to sleep in my doggie crate and I’m working on my potty training. Haven’t got it completely yet but I’m very close. Like I said earlier, I’m very affectionate so anyone willing to love me, feed me, and give me a good home, we’ll fit together like two peas in a pod… Oh, it wouldn’t hurt to have a new brother or sister either. If I sound like to dog for you, please fill out and application and ask for Joey.

UPDATE: 1/1/10
Happy New Year everybody! It's Joey, and I'm back to give everyone an update on how wonderful life is! As you can see from my new picture, I'm loving the couch life. Never knew how awesome it was till SEPRA (and my many friends in Kansas City) saved my life. As you can see, my eye has shrunk a little bit, but I think it just adds to my charm. I still love to cuddle, and I've learned to wrestle w/ my foster brothers. Girls are too fragile, I just like to nap w/ them. My foster parents tell me all the time how awesome I am, but I knew that already. Christmas was awesome, but Santa wasn't able to give me my biggest wish - to get a furever family. He said there is the perfect family out there for me, I just have to be patient. I'm young - I'm not patient! But I am smart and still working on pottying outside. Brrrr, it's cold out here. But I love to run like the wind, and walks are awesome as long as my foster mom dresses me inthose great outfits first - NOT! Please, if you're looking for a handsome guy w/ good energy and lots of affection, but still loves to take an afternoon nap w/ you, please fill out an app and ask for Joey. I'll bounce into your home & your heart. Happy New Year!

Love,
Joey
