Hi there! My name is Simba and I am a four year old male Pug who came to Sepra the day after Santa came to visit. My previous owner had taken me to a vet to put me to sleep and the wonderful vet technician took one look at me and knew I was going to make someone a great pet and took me home. She called SEPRA who has been taking great care of me ever since.
I had some rather serious health problems when I arrived that are doing much better after a bunch of visits to the vet. I had a terrible inner ear infection, both ears full of yeast and ruptured ear drums that kept causing me to fall over when I tried to walk. Unfortunately, due to the severity of my initial problems, I can no longer hear. My new family will need to be willing to clean my ears a couple of times a week – the ear wash is very inexpensive and lasts a long time.
Being deaf doesn’t stop me from being a great little dog. I am house-trained, up-to-date on shots and a well behaved little boy. I do love to eat so it may be best if I were on low calorie dog food. I love to cuddle and sleep next to my foster mom. I do fine in a crate when she goes to work during the day – not a peep out of me! I would do best in a home with older children and would prefer to be the only dog. I am ready to be part of a forever home!
Update: 4/9/11
Hello potential adoptive parent(s). I just wanted to check in to let you know that I am doing well. I had my ears checked recently and they are doing so much better than when I arrived at Sepra. In fact one of them (according to the vet) looks beautiful!! He wants my foster mom to continue cleaning them out a couple of times a week, but all in all they are doing much better. I have even regained some of my hearing – Yeah!! I have also added an updated picture so that you can see just how handsome I really am.
I do think it is best if I am an only dog and would do well in a home with no small children - not that I don’t like them, but they want to pull on my ears and sometimes can be a little too rough. If you are interested in adopting me and making me a permanent part of your family, please put my name on the adoption application. I am ready for my forever home!
